UMT seeks collaboration with UPM Malaysia

Lahore, 27th June 2024 - University of Management & Technology (UMT) hosted a delegation from School of Business and Economics (SPE), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia to develop strategic cooperation.
The delegation from the School of Business and Economics, UPM (SPE UPM) was led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr Anuar Shah Bali Mahomed (Deputy Dean of Graduate) together with the University of Management and Technology (UMT) team namely Mr. Muttaqi Armaan Malik (Director, Internationalization and Outreach), Dr Zaheer Ahmad (CEO/Head, Learning Resource Centre (LRC)), Dr. Irem Batool (Chairperson, Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods), Dr. Syed Ahmad Ali (Chairperson, Department of Management), Mr. Umar Sajjad Lodhi (Assistant Manager, Internationalization), other academic staff as well as Mr. Mumtaz Hussain (Director KDL, Liaison Consultant), Mr. Pervaiz Mustaq (Liaison Consultant) and Mr. Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad (Liaison Consultant) was involved in the discussion.
Among the proposed collaborations include Student and Staff Mobility, international visits between the two universities, the organization of international conferences and seminars, executive education and the proposal to hold an MoU. This marks an important step in strengthening academic ties and expanding educational and economic opportunities internationally.
On top of that, the delegation from the School of Business and Economics, UPM (SPE UPM) was invited to tour around the campus and the library, namely the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), this is to offer an opportunity to explore the facilities and gain insights into the institution's academic resources.
The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at UMT is a state-of-the-art library with over 150,000 books, making it one of Pakistan's best collections. It subscribes to 90 journals and 18 online databases. The LRC also offers literature searching, citation management tools, plagiarism avoidance, research topic selection, data analysis, and publication support. Furthermore, the Centre for Inclusive Education (CIE) offering cutting-edge facilities and assistive technology tailored to cater to the unique learning needs of differently abled students.
The cooperation that is being worked on is expected to increase the reputation and impact of both institutions in the international arena as well as new opportunities for the development of knowledge and sustainability of cooperation in the future.
